I went to Dr. Esquerra's office for a replacement of an upper and lower partial as well as some "reworking" of a series of upper front teeth. And when it was completed it ended up to be the smile I'd dreamed of. The staff were all extremely friendly and Dr. Esquerra was so supportive, so understanding, and so patient. It seemed as no nothing short of perfection was good enough for her when working on my teeth. And they were a challenge. But I appreciated every bit of effort she gave to me. However interruptions with the Mayo Clinic due to lasting effects from oral cancer and radiation have left a lot of other issues to be corrected at this point so I don't know at this time what will happen next. But I would highly recommend Dr. Esquerra and her staff.

Our experience at Dental Implant and Reconstructive Center was great! During an especially challenging dental situation for my son, Dr. Esguerra and her team were not only compassionate and understanding to the stress of our situation, but did an amazing job of communicating with us throughout the whole process. Advanced Education and Proven Experience in Duluth, MN

After earning her dental degree, Dr. Esguerra completed three additional years of advanced specialty education in prosthodontics and a Master of Science degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She became board certified by the American Board of Prosthodontics in 2015 and completed recertification in 2023. She is Northern Minnesota’s only board-certified prosthodontist.

Dr. Esguerra has restored more than 10,000 dental implants and more than 1,800 full-arch implant-supported prostheses and restorations. She has delivered more than 50 professional lectures and presentations, served five years on the faculty of the National University of Singapore, and currently teaches in the University of Minnesota’s Graduate Prosthodontics program.

Technology With a Clinical Purpose

Technology is valuable when it improves diagnosis, treatment planning, communication, or verification. We use three-dimensional CBCT imaging, digital intraoral scanning, and guided implant-planning technology when appropriate.

These tools help us evaluate anatomy, plan implant positions in relation to the intended restoration, communicate with our laboratory, and document changes throughout treatment. Technology supports clinical judgment; it does not replace it.

Surgical and Prosthetic Care, Coordinated in One Practice

The Dental Implant & Reconstructive Center is a specialty practice limited to surgical and prosthetic dentistry. Dr. Esguerra provides implant surgery, bone grafting, extractions, temporary prostheses, definitive fixed and removable prosthetic treatment, and ongoing prosthetic follow-up.

When treatment involves multiple stages, each phase is planned in relation to the intended final result. Implant position is planned around the appearance, bite, speech, strength, and cleanability of the final teeth.

The final teeth guide implant placement—not the other way around.

An In-House Laboratory Involved in Your Care

Our laboratory is part of the practice, but its value is more than convenience. You will meet the laboratory technician who personally positions and arranges your teeth. She joins each try-in in the operatory, sees your smile and facial appearance, listens to your feedback, and hears directly what you like or want changed.

This collaboration allows clinical and laboratory decisions to be made together throughout treatment.

Clarity Before Commitment

Implant and reconstructive treatment can involve significant health, functional, and financial decisions. Before proceeding, you should understand the diagnosis, available alternatives, treatment sequence, anticipated outcome, limitations, costs, and future care needs.

During your consultation, Dr. Esguerra will review the findings, answer your questions, and explain the recommended next steps. Every patient receives either a treatment plan or preliminary treatment options with fee ranges. You are not expected to choose treatment at your initial consultation. If you need more time, a second consultation is available at no additional charge to discuss financial considerations, compare options, or ask questions specific to your mouth.

Health, timing, and finances can influence how treatment proceeds, but they do not have to end the conversation. When appropriate, Dr. Esguerra can consult with your physician, coordinate care with an oral surgeon or medical specialist, phase treatment, or begin with disease control and transitional teeth. Our team can also review your monthly budget and available payment or financing options to help identify a realistic path forward.

Care That Continues

Delivery of the final teeth is not the end of care. One or two post-delivery follow-up visits are included with treatment so Dr. Esguerra can evaluate comfort, function, bite, and your adaptation to the prosthesis.

Dental implants cannot develop cavities, but the surrounding tissue and bone still require monitoring. Prosthetic teeth, attachments, screws, and restorative materials can also wear or require maintenance over time. Our practice remains available for examinations, prosthetic maintenance, adjustments, and repairs, with support from our in-house laboratory.
