What to Expect at Your Initial Consultation

Dental Implant & Reconstructive Center in Duluth MN

Complete Care Starts Here

Complete Care means taking the time to listen, understand what matters most to you, consider the complete picture, and develop a thoughtful plan together.

As a board-certified prosthodontist, Dr. Esguerra specializes in the diagnosis, treatment planning, and restoration of complex dental conditions involving the teeth, dental implants, and supporting structures. Your Initial Consultation begins with the complete picture—not simply a particular procedure.

We reserve approximately 90 minutes for your Initial Consultation. Your visit is designed to help us understand your dental history, concerns, and goals—and to help you understand your condition and the treatment options available to you.

Our goal is simple: we want you to understand your condition, your options, and why Dr. Esguerra recommends a particular treatment before you make a decision about your care.

Understanding You and Your Goals

Your visit begins by meeting our team, touring the practice, and obtaining a 3D CBCT scan. Your Treatment Coordinator will complete a targeted review of your medical and dental history, provide an overview of the ways teeth can be maintained or replaced, and help you identify what matters most to you.

For some patients, the priority is maintaining their natural teeth. Others are ready to consider replacing teeth. Together, we help you define your preferences for appearance, chewing function, fixed versus removable treatment, and treatment timeline before narrowing the conversation to a particular treatment.

Your Consultation with Dr. Esguerra

Dr. Esguerra will review and refine your treatment goals, personally review your CBCT, and perform a clinical examination when indicated. She will show you relevant findings on your images and explain what they mean.

Based on your clinical and radiographic findings, concerns, and treatment objectives, Dr. Esguerra will establish a working diagnosis and recommend either a preferred treatment approach or a range of preliminary treatment options.

Most importantly, she will explain why a treatment is being recommended, including its advantages, disadvantages, and how it relates to the goals you established together.

Understanding the Investment

Once treatment options have been discussed, our Financial Coordinator will review treatment estimates, in-house payment options, third-party financing, and scheduling.

There is no pressure to make a decision that day. If you would benefit from additional time or discussion, a second consultation is available at no additional charge.

If you are ready to move forward, however, we are ready too. In many cases, we can begin gathering the additional diagnostic records needed for treatment planning that same day.

Patients under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
