What Can Full-Mouth Reconstruction Involve?
There is no single procedure or treatment sequence called a full-mouth reconstruction. The treatment plan is developed for the individual patient based on the condition of the remaining teeth, supporting bone and tissues, bite, existing dental work, and the patient’s goals.
Depending on those findings, treatments may include:
- Teeth cleaning (prophylaxis)
- Restoring and preserving natural teeth
- Crowns, bridges, veneers, or inlays and onlays
- Replacement of missing teeth with removable prostheses or dental implants
- Crown lengthening or gum-tissue contouring when indicated
- Bone or soft-tissue grafting to support teeth or dental implants
- Temporary or provisional restorations used during treatment
- Orthodontic treatment to reposition teeth when needed
- Orthognathic surgery to reposition the jaws when indicated
- Coordination with other dental or medical specialists as part of the overall treatment plan
Treatment may occur in phases and, depending on the procedures involved, may include periods of healing before definitive restorations are completed.
